Countdown to Ocoochapalooza!
You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers…
- What is Ocoochapalooza?
- How did this come about?
- How much is Admission?
- How can I help?
- What about weather?
- What can/can't you bring?
Ocoochapalooza is a block party designed to draw awareness to downtown Richland Center. This sometimes neglected section of the wonderful Driftless Area features interesting architecture, neat stores & restaurants, lots of intriguing arts and artists, and more characters than a Steinbeck novel. Food, games & activities, business promotions, a children’s parade, Farmer’s Market, and a full day/night of live music!
In October of 2013 Neighborhood Housing Services of Southwest Wisconsin (then NHS of Richland County) sent a team of 8 resident leaders to the Community Leadership Institute in Sacramento in October. The CLI is a national conference organized by NeighborWorks America to encourage resident engagement and give people the tools to create better communities themselves. They received a grant to help with community building and decided to use those funds to create and organize Ocoochapalooza! We are proud to announce that the 2016 will be the third year Ocoochapalooza is happening and is now under Richland Rejuvenates, with continuing support from NHS.
Admission is FREE for the day. The only event that is charged is the Headline show on June 4th at 6pm at the Richland Center Performing Arts Center, 182 N Central Ave, Richland Center, WI 53581. Stay tuned for ticket vendors and their location. Remember, there will be FREE music all throughout the day too!
There are municipal parking lots in and near downtown. Stay tuned for our announcement and coordination of where public parking with be accessible.
You can use the contact form on the website to get ahold of us or email Robert Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org, Amber Burch at email@example.com, or Brett Iverson at Brett.D.Iverson@gmail.com. We can’t control this, of course. But check here closer to the event for forecast info. We will provide further info if anything needs to be rescheduled or moved indoors due to weather that day.
Do not bring alcohol, drugs, or weapons. Try not to bring a bad mood. Bring yourself, family, & friends!
At Ocoochapalooza there will be FREE music throughout the day and a ticketed concert in the evening at the historic Richland Center Performing Arts Center/Auditorium! We are pleased that Count This Penny will be headlining! It’s sure to be a grand ole’ time!
The intersections of Court and Central is where all the action will be taking place! Court and Central will be blocked from Main Street to Church Street, and Seminary to Mill, a 4 block area.
